Read to Succeed is a program designed by the United Way of Greater Lafayette, Greater Lafayette Commerce and local participating school systems that places a priority on early grade reading.
More than a dozen School Datebooks employees are involved in Read to Succeed during the school year. Volunteers tutor elementary-aged students on their reading skills for one hour each week. Each volunteer completes a training program and is assigned to a classroom at one of five schools. Depending on the grade level, activities with the students can involve letter flash cards and alphabet games, counting, sight word review (like am/can/see) and reading with a tutor to identify troubling words.
